CONRAIL CABOOSE PHOTO ARCHIVE

The N5K Class

N5K Conrail #18443-18449

In 1970 AT&SF sold Penn Central seven cabooses that became the N-5K cabooses after heavy modification by PC.
They were assigned to transfer service. Conrail did not renumber them.

CR 18443 was originally ATSF 1564
CR 18444 was originally ATSF 1626
CR 18445 was originally ATSF 1704
CR 18446 was originally ATSF 1717
CR 18447 was originally ATSF 1720
CR 18448 was originally ATSF 2258 had a peaked roof
CR 18449 was originally ATSF 2263 had a peaked roof

Built by AT&SF in 1951. These cars were originally full cupola-style with four windows on each side. After PC bought them,
the cupola was cut down; leaving a stubby bump in the roof line. Several windows were plated
over and a new bay window added.
