GrandLuxe Rail Journeys, (formerly American Orient Express) has been in operation since 2006. A private company, GrandLuxe Rail Journeys operates independently of Amtrak and the various North American rail lines, but works closely with these companies for locomotive power and access to scenic routes throughout the United States and Canada.
